IGNOU BSc Zoology Admission, IGNOU BSc Zoology Courses:

The Indira Gandhi National Open University publishes the IGNOU BSc Zoology admission notification twice in a year i.e for January and July session. The admission notification can be checked on the university official website at www.ignou.ac.in.

The students can download IGNOU Prospectus from the university official website. The prospectus can also be obtained from the Registrar (SR&E), IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068 and from Regional Centres, Study Centres, and IGNOU ARMY, NAVY, AIR FORCE AND ASSAM RIFLES Recognised Regional Centres by paying the sum of Rs.200/- at cash counters.

IGNOU BSc Zoology Eligibility Criteria:

The interested candidates who wish to pursue B.Sc. Zoology from IGNOU must satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria. They must have completed their 10+2 education with Science stream or its equivalent.

Programme Fee:

The students have to pay a total of Rs.10,500/- as the complete programme fee. It should be noted that the fee has to be paid @ Rs. 3,500 per Annum. (Important Note: The University may change the fee structure in future. So, the students are requested to check the latest fee in the prospectus or with the counselors present in the Study Centre/Regional Centre.). The additional fee charges may apply as per the University norms.

Programme Duration & Age Criteria:

  • Minimum Duration: 3 Years
  • Maximum Duration: 6 Years
  • Minimum Age: No bar
  • Maximum Age: No bar

Important Note: For BSc (Major) in Zoology, Elective Courses worth 48 credits in Life Sciences [LSE-01 to LSE-08(L) worth 32 credits] and a package of courses [LSE-09, 10, 11(L) worth 16 credits] should be completed.

Programme Structure:

The 96 credits for the B. Sc. Programme are to be spread over three categories of Courses as given below:

  • Foundation Courses -24 Credits
  • Elective Courses – 56 to 64 Credits
  • Application- Oriented Courses- 8 to 16 Credits
  • Awareness Course on Environment -Nil

Total Credits: 96

In case, you do not complete various BSc (Major) degrees and complete any other combination of courses from among science elective courses, then you will be awarded a BSc (General) degree.
