IGNOU M.Ed Entrance Test 2014 for Admission in Master of Education Programme
Every Year Indira Gandhi National Open University conducts the M.Ed entrance exam for students to apply for admission in its Master of Education programme.The exam is usually conducted every year in the month of August.The admit cards / hall Tickets for the M.Ed entrance exam will be provided by university at least ten days before the date of examination.The entrance exam is conducted all over India through the university study centres.The M.Ed programme offered by university comes under the School of Education (SOE).Most of the students in India and abroad who want to do distance learning prefer the IGNOU M.Ed programme because of the flexibility it offers for distance learning students.So,this year again the university is going to conduct the Entrance Test 2014 on 17th August 2014 for admissions in January 2015 session.The duration for IGNOU M.Ed programme is 2 years and right now the programme is offered by university in English medium only.
About IGNOU M.Ed programme :
According to Indira Gandhi National Open University,”The M.Ed. Programme of IGNOU is recognized by the NCTE vide their Letter No. NRC/NCTE/F-3/DH-389/2007/40280 dated 15th May, 2008 and is offered in NCTE approved teacher education
institutions in the country”.This programme has been designed and prepared jointly by DEC IGNOU.The university is offering a very innovative M.Ed programme utilizing self instructional materials and information technology along with interactive personal contact programmes. The complete programme is combination of both theoretical and practical courses.The main aim of this programme is to develop an understanding among teachers to how to teach the students by acquiring appropriate knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes.
Only the candidates who succeeds in obtaining minimum marks required to qualify M.Ed entrance exam are eligible to get admission in the Master of Education programme offered by this distance learning university.Recently,IGNOU has published the notification to invite applications from the candidates who want to take admission in this programme.The university is offering this programme all over the country through the network of its study centres.The University has been conducting this entrance exam to admit the students for the M.Ed programme starting from January, 2015 .To get admission in IGNOU M.Ed programme,the students should match the required eligibility and must qualify the M.Ed Entrance Test.For those who have observed their seniors, siblings, who have been seeking admission into Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) M.Ed Department, running around colleges, filling M.Ed admission forms, then before you decide to apply in Indira Gandhi National Open College, you need to know the following information about this programme.
The Eligibility for M.Ed programme is mentioned below :
- Candidate should be having B.Ed degree with fifty five (55%) percent marks from a recognized university.
- Serving teachers with two years full time teaching experience after completion of B.Ed programme in a Government or Government Recognized schools/ NCTE recognised teacher trainin/Research institution of education. The cut off date for 2 years,experience will be the last date of submission of Application form to IGNOU.
- The reservation for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer), War widows, Kashmiri migrants, Physically handicapped (Disabled) and other categories shall be as per the rules of the Central/State Government whichever is applicable.There shall be relaxation of 5% marks as per GOI.
Know about the Programme Fees :
Candidates who are seeking admission in this programme need to pay Rs.40,000/- as a fee for the entire programme of two years. Candidates need to submit the total fees at the time of admission.They are instructed not to pay any fees along with the filled-in application form.They will be separately informed about the admission and payment fee via notification on official website or via post or email.The fee can be paid only via Demand Draft drawn in favour of IGNOU payable at the city where the Regional Centre of the candidate is situated.Applicant should write in capital letters their name and the programme name (M.Ed.) on the back of
the Demand Draft to ensure proper credit of your fee to the relevant account.

- The filled-in application form must reach the concerned IGNOU Regional Centre on or before 15th July,2014.
- Date of Examination : 17th August 2014.
- Application form received after the due date will not be accepted.
