The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers admission to its Master of Commerce in Finance and Taxation (M.Com (F&T)) in both January and July academic cycles.

The programme has been designed and developed in collaboration with The Board of Studies, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India exclusively for the Chartered Accountancy Final stage students.

The students who are currently pursuing Chartered Accountancy Final Course or those who have already completed Chartered Accountancy are eligible to seek admission to this programme.

Programme Objective

The main objective behind developing this programme is to inculcate skills and competencies among the students in the field of Accountancy, Finance and Taxation. The university provides an option for students to simultaneously study this programme alongwith Chartered Accountancy Final Course offered by ICAI.

IGNOU MCOMFT Programme Detail

The admission eligibility, programme duration and other conditions to take admission in this programme are mentioned below :

Medium of Instruction

At present, the programme is offered in both English as well as Hindi medium. It depends upon you to choose the language for study. The study material and assignments will be provided to you in the medium of your choice.

Also, you have to write the Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA) and Term End Examination for this programme in the same medium. Other study aids like Audio/video programmes and counselling will be provided through the same medium that you choose at the time of registration.

Admission Eligibility

The candidates seeking admission to this programme should follow the below mentioned eligibility conditions. These are as follows:
He / She should be Graduate in any discipline or equivalent from a recognized University/Institute OR Who has already passed Chartered Accountancy.

Programme Fee

The total fee for this programme is Rs. 8,400/- which students have to pay at the time of registration after filling up admission form online.Therefore, it is not required to re-register for the 2nd year and pay any fees as the fee covers the whole programme.

(Note: The University will keep changing the fee from time to time and one will have to find out the details from the Study Centre/Regional Centre.). The additional fee charges may apply as per University norms.

Programme Duration

The minimum duration required to complete for this programme is 2 years and the maximum duration for this course is 5 years. The University provides a lot of flexibility to students in completing this programme.

In case if any student fails to complete all the required courses within the maximum period of 5 years, then he/ she have to take re-admission by paying the prescribed fee.

Age Requirement

There is no minimum and maximum age required to take admission.

IGNOU M.Com(F&T) Courses

To complete the degree in Master of Commerce in Finance & Taxation, you have to clear 13 courses out of which 5 courses are offered by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and remaining 8 are part of Chartered Accountancy Final Course.

Once a student passes the 8 courses of Chartered Accountancy Final Course, he/she receives credit transfer for those 8 courses in this programme. This scheme facilitates the student to obtain duel degree simultaneously when a student passes Chartered Accountancy final, he/she becomes the member of Chartered Accountancy and at the same time he/she is also qualified to receive this M.Com degree by completing only 5 more courses from IGNOU.
